Terms of Service

These terms cover your use of the Lumen website and the Lumen Discord bot (together, "the Service"). By logging in with Discord or inviting the bot to a server you manage, you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use the Service.

Note: this is a starting template, not legal advice. Replace the bracketed placeholders, and have a lawyer review it before relying on it for a real, public-facing service.

1. What the Service is

The Service lets you write and run custom Discord bot commands in a scripting language called Lumen. You write commands through the website; the bot runs them in servers ("guilds") where it's installed and you have permission to manage it.

2. Accounts and access

You sign in with your Discord account through Discord's own login (OAuth). We never see or store your Discord password.
You can only manage commands for a server if you're the owner, have Administrator or Manage Server permission there, or hold a role that server's owner/admin has designated as a bot manager.
You're responsible for anything published through your account, including commands you write and their effects in a server.

3. Acceptable use

You agree not to use the Service to:

Write or run commands that harass, threaten, or abuse others.
Violate Discord's own Terms of Service or Community Guidelines.
Attempt to bypass the sandboxing, step limits, or time limits that keep one script from affecting the bot as a whole or other servers.
Attempt to gain unauthorized access to another server's commands, settings, or data.
Use the Service to distribute malware, spam, or illegal content.

We can suspend or remove access for accounts or servers that break these rules, without notice, if needed to protect the Service or other users.

4. Your content

You keep ownership of the Lumen scripts and bug reports you write. By saving a script, you give us permission to store it and have the bot run it as part of providing the Service. We don't claim ownership of it and won't use it for anything else.

5. Availability and changes

The Service is provided on a best-effort basis. We don't guarantee it will be available at all times, free of bugs, or that any given command will keep working forever. Features, limits, and these terms can change; we'll try to give notice of significant changes where practical.

6. Disclaimer and limitation of liability

The Service is provided "as is," without warranties of any kind. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we aren't liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service, including anything a custom command does in your server.

7. Ending access

You can stop using the Service at any time by removing the bot from your server and/or revoking its Discord authorization from your Discord account settings. We may suspend or terminate access for violations of these terms or the Acceptable Use section above.
